Machining services

Precision metal machining is our core business.  State-of-the-art equipment and qualified staff enable us to make small, medium and large components with complex geometries to exacting tolerances.

Our facilities and equipment have been designed and assembled to manufacture the complex manufactured components required by the oilfield industry.  In our 38 years serving the industry, we have developed and refined numerous processes to optimize the quality and efficiency of our manufacturing, including:

  • Proprietary multistage programming

  • Optimization of material and production inputs

  • Detailed production fixtures and patterns

  • Multistage tooling

  • Quality control systems

Our facilities optimized for medium to large parts (up to 80" diameter), with geometries ranging from basic to highly complex. Visit our equipment & facilities page for more information.

Materials

We have broad experience working with both low and high alloy steels as well as cast iron, ductile iron and bronze.  As required by the industry, we most commonly work with stainless, carbon and alloy steels.

Purchasing and coordination of outsourced services

We commonly work with subcontractors to provide services we do not offer in-house ranging from welding to testing and other specialty services.  All procured materials and services are certified, traceable and integrated with our normal production schedules and controls.

Post-machining

As required by the job, we offer a number of services after machining operations are completed:

  • Basic part assembly

  • Non-destructive testing: including hydrostatic testing

  • Shipping preparation: deburring, coating, packaging and crating

3rd party inspection and quality certifications

We have deep understanding of and long time relationships with worldwide inspection agencies such as ABS and DNV for the detailed inspections of critical components.

As of 3 July 2019, Houston Foundry and Manufacturing has been certified to AS 9100 rev. D and ISO 9001 : 2015 standards. We are delighted to serve our customers even better through the well-defined and documented processes this certification requires. While we've always been committed to quality in our products and services, this certification ensures a more productive environment through faster identification and resolution of quality issues, among many other benefits.

We partnered with Smithers Quality Assessments, https://www.smithers.com, an accredited quality and environmental management systems certification body, to achieve our certification.
